What do StepGenie's obstetrics & gynecology images cover?
Each obstetrics and gynecology image is an infographic StepGenie drew for one of its own practice questions. Most of them are keyed to gestational age or to the menstrual cycle, because the correct next step in these questions usually depends on when in the timeline the patient presents.
Disorders of pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium carry the largest share of this set by a wide margin. Menstrual disorders and contraception, breast disorders, genital tract tumors, genitourinary infections and reproductive endocrinology carry the remainder.
Obstetric questions are managed by timeline, and the images are drawn to match. A bleeding-in-pregnancy panel separates the causes by trimester before it separates them by symptom, which is the order that actually resolves the answer choices. The hypertensive disease panels put blood pressure, proteinuria, gestational age and the presence of end-organ features on one grid so that preeclampsia with severe features is a readable position rather than a definition to recall.
The gynecology images cover the abnormal uterine bleeding workup and the ovarian and cervical lesions, and they are organized by age band for the same reason. Reading the panel top to bottom gives you the differential in the order the exam expects you to eliminate it.
Fetal heart tracing panels are worth a slower pass. They pair a pattern with the physiological cause behind it and then with the action it calls for, and the action is the part the exam actually asks about.
Topics in this set
Labels are the question-bank topics these images are filed under. Step 1 and Step 2 file some of the same material under different names, so a few labels here merge both.
