## What UWorld charges in 2026

UWorld lists the same five prices for Step 1 and Step 2 CK, from $349 for 30 days up to $749 for 730 days.

The 30-day tier buys the QBank, ReadyDecks flashcards, the Medical Library and up to 100 UAsk prompts. The 90-day tier adds one self-assessment. From 180 days upward you also get a one-time reset, the study planner and more self-assessments -- two at 180 days, three at 360 and 730 days.

Self-assessment forms are also sold separately at $50 each, or $120 for all three; each is a two-week subscription of 160 questions. UWorld's own pages disagree on the block layout -- the Step 2 CK product page says four 60-minute blocks of 40, the self-assessment page says timed 20-question blocks -- so only the total is quoted here. A Biostatistics Review is $25 for 90 days. Every Step 2 CK tier includes Shelf Exam Review as well.

Each Step is a separate purchase. A student who wants a year of Step 1 and later a year of Step 2 CK pays $579 twice, before any self-assessments. Those are the figures on uworld.com on September 5, 2026; UWorld changes prices without notice, so confirm on the purchase page before paying.

## Which UWorld subscription length is worth the money

The 180-day and 360-day tiers are where UWorld's per-month cost drops sharply and where the reset and study planner first appear.

Per month, the 30-day tier is the most expensive way to buy UWorld at $349. The 90-day tier works out to $153 a month, 180 days to $86.50, 360 days to $48.25 and 730 days to $31.21. Moving from 90 to 180 days costs $60 more and doubles the time, which is why 180 days is the sensible floor for a dedicated study period.

The 360-day tier is the one most students end up buying, because it is the shortest term that includes three self-assessments and the reset, and because a dedicated period plus the months of coursework before it rarely fits inside 180 days.

A 30-day subscription only makes sense as a final-weeks second pass when the bank has already been worked through, and the 730-day tier is for students who start question practice in their first year. Renewals of an active subscription are sold separately, from $49 for seven days to $379 for 360 days.

## How StepGenie's price compares

StepGenie Pro costs $49 a month, $249 for a year or $549 for three years, and the Complete plan covers Step 1, Step 2 CK and Step 3 together.

Single-Step Pro is $49 monthly, $199 for six months, $249 for a year, $399 for two years and $549 for three. The Complete plan, which unlocks all three Steps on one subscription, is $99 monthly, $299 for a year and $599 for three years. StepGenie also runs recurring sales that take 15% to 50% off the six-month and longer plans on scheduled days each month, so the list price is the most you would pay.

Every Pro plan includes the full Visual QBank, the Pattern Mastery QBank, both Tutor and Test mode, performance and knowledge-gap analysis, 62,475 FSRS-scheduled flashcards and Ask AI on every question. The free plan gives you 5 Visual QBank questions and 10 Pattern Mastery questions a day for as long as you like, so the format can be tried before any money changes hands.

A year of UWorld for one Step is $579; a year of StepGenie Pro is $249, and a year of the Complete plan covering all three Steps is $299. Price is not the reason to choose one over the other -- format is -- but it does mean the visual bank runs for a full year at less than the cost of a single 180-day text subscription.

## What a QBank price does not tell you

A question bank is only worth its price if its explanations actually get read, and reading is where most students fall behind.

Text explanations cost time as well as money. Every question ends in a page of prose that has to be read and turned into a mental picture before it teaches anything, and the students who fall behind are rarely the ones who ran out of budget -- they are the ones who ran out of calendar.

StepGenie explains every question in images: step-by-step frames that build the mechanism, one comprehensive image per disease for revision, and a distractor image for every wrong option, with Ask AI attached for follow-ups. That is what lets a full pass plus revision fit in 45 days, and it is why the per-month figure is only half the comparison.

The honest way to compare the two is to price a subscription against the number of explained questions you will genuinely review inside it. StepGenie holds 15,371 questions across 24 body systems, and a bank you finish is cheaper than a bank you abandon two-thirds of the way through, whatever the sticker says.

## How StepGenie compares to each

### UWorld

- **Best for:** Students who want the most widely used text question bank and will budget both the money and the reading hours it asks for.
- **Known for:** The reference text question bank for USMLE prep, sold per Step in fixed terms from 30 to 730 days, with self-assessments, a flashcard tool and a medical library bundled into the longer tiers.
- **Where StepGenie wins:** StepGenie Pro covers a Step for $49 a month or $249 a year, and the Complete plan puts Step 1, Step 2 CK and Step 3 on one subscription -- with every question explained in images, so the price buys a bank that actually gets finished.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much does UWorld cost per month?

UWorld does not bill monthly; it sells fixed terms. The 30-day tier is $349, which is also the highest per-month cost. Longer terms work out to $153 a month for 90 days, $86.50 for 180 days, $48.25 for 360 days and $31.21 for 730 days, based on the prices listed on uworld.com on September 5, 2026. Prices are the same for Step 1 and Step 2 CK, and each Step is bought separately.

### Is UWorld Step 2 CK the same price as Step 1?

Yes. On September 5, 2026, uworld.com listed identical tiers for both: $349, $459, $519, $579 and $749 for 30, 90, 180, 360 and 730 days. The Step 2 CK tiers additionally include Shelf Exam Review at every length. They are separate subscriptions, so a student who buys a year of each pays $579 twice, plus $50 per self-assessment form or $120 for all three.

### Does UWorld have a free trial or a student discount?

UWorld's own FAQ says it does not offer guest or trial accounts; each product page carries a demo with a few sample questions instead. It refers to discounted combination packages on its purchase page but publishes no student coupon. Renewals of an active subscription are sold in short blocks, from $49 for seven days. StepGenie, by comparison, has a free plan with no time limit and recurring sales on its longer plans.

### Is UWorld worth the price?

UWorld is worth $579 a year for a student who will read every explanation and has the months to do it, because the questions are well written and the volume is large. It stops being worth it when the explanations get skimmed, which is what happens to most students by the fifth week. Price any subscription against the explanations you will actually review, not against the number of questions in the bank.

### How much does StepGenie cost compared to UWorld?

StepGenie Pro is $49 a month, $249 a year or $549 for three years, and the Complete plan with Step 1, Step 2 CK and Step 3 together is $299 a year. UWorld's cheapest full-year tier is $579 per Step. StepGenie also has a free plan, and its six-month and longer plans go on sale on scheduled days each month, so the list prices are the most you would pay.
